Working With Us

Critical Link is an engineering firm specializing in embedded electronics systems. Our MityDSP work combines design consulting with the development and manufacture of custom, off-the-shelf systems that include both hardware and software. In implementing MityDSP, Critical Link works in close partnership with our customers, becoming a seamless extension of your engineering organization. We work with our customers in many different modes, from full turnkey product development, to surgical strike projects working from a complete customer specification. On all of our projects, we take the time to understand your objectives, both business and technical, and to make sure that all of your requirements are met. We pride ourselves on providing systematic project planning, on our responsiveness, and on our timely and honest customer communications. If problems arise, you’ll hear from us right away. This flow chart outlines how Critical Link works with our customers to deliver a prototype MityDSP-based system. Depending on the project complexity, a prototype is typically delivered in 4 - 6 weeks. Once the prototype is delivered, we work iteratively with our customers to make any changes required, and then focus on developing the production-ready system (a process that typically takes 3-5 months).

Your Trusted Partner

For our customers, their most critical product component is their expertise, the intellectual property that differentiates their product and provides great value. Occasionally disclosure of intellectual property to Critical Link becomes necessary to develop your MityDSP based solution. Critical Link closely guards any access to your IP - we work under non-disclosure agreements and ensure our customers the highest degree of confidentiality with respect to any information we learn about their technology, business practices, or market plans.

MityDSP: Built to Last

In developing the MityDSP, Critical Link has selected components that are built to last, and will ensure against product obsolescence. We work closely with Texas Instruments, which provides the MityDSP CPU, and are aware of any their product changes. One of the primary reasons we chose TI is their commitment to support longevity. Early TI CPUs have remained available for decades, so you don’t have to worry about obsolescence. Similarly, we have chosen Xilinx for our FPGA with longevity in mind.
With MityDSP you can make changes to your product when they make market and technical sense, rather than because a component manufacturer is dictating them. Should it become necessary to incorporate a new processor or other major component in the standard MityDSP, we will continue to support your use of the original version, or work with you to quickly convert to the new.
