March 6, 2006 - Critical Link Announces MityDSP XM
Syracuse, NY - March 6, 2006 - Critical Link today announced the release of a new extended memory version of the MityDSP. With 16MB of Flash memory and 32 MB of SDRAM, MityDSP XM boosts the power of the MityDSP so that it is capable of supporting the most data intensive applications.
Now used in a broad range of scientific instrumentation and commercial applications, MityDSP provides an all-in-one solution that handles an application’s data collection and processing requirements. A rapid product development and production system, MityDSP provides a production-ready core CPU platform that can be quickly and easily customized to meet specific product requirements. The MityDSP includes both hardware and software components that link seamlessly together with your application. The hardware consists of a core module that contains a CPU, FPGA, RAM, and Flash.
“We’re seeing a growing interest from our customers in increasing their processing horsepower. Customers are demanding more memory, particularly for more complex and larger applications.” said Dave Rice, Critical Link’s Vice President and Technical Director.
In addition to expanding the Flash Memory to 16 MB (from a baseline of 2 MB) and SDRAM to 32 MB (from a baseline of 8 MB), MityDSP XM utilizes a larger FPGA as well, the Xilinx Spartan-3 XC3S400. These changes will enable customers to utilize MityDSP for applications requiring a large footprint in an off-the-shelf module. The MityDSP combines off-the-shelf components and pre-configured interfaces, with a highly customizable I/O board that enables quickly developed “last mile” customization to meet application needs.
Critical Link is expecting the first customer product utilizing the MityDSP XM to debut by the second quarter.
